What's new on this web page/the BBS?

March 12, 2001. I am adding the Google search the web/search my site feature to my Tripod site (and hopefully the other sites as they get indexed).

Google
Search WWW Search eqcitybbs.tripod.com

October 22, 1999. The Earthquake City BBS web site hit the big time! And I didn't even know it.

Tripod stats showed that this web site had more than 4,000 unique visitors last month (September 1999). Because of that, Tripod has increased my web space from 11mb to 50mb.

And now a brief comment about the search engine available on this site.

PicoSearch indexes this site whenever I request it (normally about once per month). Therefore you won't be able to find the newest additions to this site using it. However, it displays the results much nicer. Not only does it show you what page it found the item on, it also displays the surrounding context. And, you can click on the link to get there.

September 19, 1998. I added a web site map link to the top of each of the pages for Earthquake City BBS.

April 7, 1998. Bob Dalton (former door developer) is abandoning future development of his games, and is releasing registration codes for all his games. However, he is still retaining ownership, and will still accept money. Godfather of Crime, Grunt Fest and possible other games will be going online here.

April 3, 1998. Merlin Null, sysop of Cafe Nebula (closed 8/97) had a few more registered games L.A.S.F.S. would not be using in the clubhouse, so I set them up on Earthquake City BBS. New games are Forces of Darkness and Stack'Em!.

November 17, 1997. Future development of Time Port has ceased, and the registration codes were put online. It has been setup on the BBS.

September 12, 1997. Cafe Nebula BBS closed down August 31, 1997. Bob Null, sysop has turned some of the registered games over to Earthquake City BBS. Mines Of Gorr, Galactic Overlord, Classic Solitare, Pyramid 13 Solitare.

August 21, 1997. All games bulletins are now available on the Bulletin menu (and not just in the individual games).

June 20, 1997. A game bulletins showing usage of games is now online and updated daily. Checkout how much activity the various games generate.

December 27, 1995. A regular user of Earthquake City BBS, Danny Pham registered B.R.E.

September 6, 1995. A regular user of Earthquake City BBS, Danny Pham registered registered L.O.R.D.

January 1, 1995. Earthquake City BBS officially opens to the public.

October 25, 1994. Started settup up some of the online games (and testing them) prior to opening the BBS to the general public.

One of the typical features of a BBS is the online games. Earthquake City BBS has a number of different online games. Some of these are played by a single user against the BBS. Others are user against user. And still others are all the users of one BBS against all the users of another BBS. The games range from trivia games, to FRP (fantasy role playing) to strategy style games and beyond.

Since the focus of this BBS is science fiction and fantasy, rock and roll, and computers, I have tried to find games that fit in with these themes.

Trivial Worlds is mostly science fiction and rock and roll trivia games.

Weird Worlds are games that looked amusing to me, but didn't quite fit into any of the categories that I previously set up.

Since sex, drugs and rock and roll are some of my non-work related hobbies, and most seem to have a dangerous edge, I figured Gangster Worlds wasn't too out of line.

Medieval Worlds fits right in with the fantasy theme.

Future Worlds fits right in with the science fiction theme.

While solitare style games weren't something I originally planned on having on the BBS, when one of the regular callers offered to register some of them for the BBS, I accepted the offer, and have now opened up Lonely Worlds.
